Prenatal (pregnancy) massage is a massage specifically tailored to pregnancy. It uses similar techniques to a regular massage, but with modifications to accommodate a growing belly, changes in your muscles and ligaments, and any associated pains. Pregnancy massage takes care of the strain on back and neck, and additional tension in the hips and legs. It also aids the circulatory and lymphatic systems, which keep the blood flowing to both, mother and baby. Further massage will help to stabilize the hormone levels and relieve tension throughout the body. Our Jasper124 Massage Therapists may use special pillows and positioning to keep you comfortable throughout the session.

What is prenatal massage?

Prenatal massage does not make use of deep tissue work, and avoids certain areas of the body for the safety and comfort of mother and baby. It's important to properly position and support the body using pillows and padding, which our Therapists will ensure is done correctly. Pregnancy massage is not advisable for people with certain health conditions, however. To be on the safe side, please ask your doctor or our Prenatal Massage Therapists for advice.

Prenatal massage can help to prepare your body for childbirth by improving flexibility and reducing muscle tension. This may help you be more comfortable during labor and delivery.

Improved Quality and Length of Sleep

If you’re pregnant, you’ve likely experienced trouble sleeping – especially as you progress. Prenatal massage can help to improve sleep by promoting relaxation and reducing stress and discomfort.

Reduced Swelling and Inflammation

Edema (swelling) is a common problem during pregnancy. Prenatal massage can help to reduce swelling by improving circulation and lymphatic drainage.

Stress, Anxiety, and General Relief

Prenatal massage can help to reduce stress and anxiety by promoting relaxation and releasing endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals. This is especially helpful during such a major time in your life!
